Clear definitions, without inflated promises.
14 terms
- GEO
- Generative Engine Optimization: organizing product evidence so it can be understood by generative engines. It is not a guarantee of recommendation.
- AEO
- Answer Engine Optimization: structuring content for answer systems. In Gengine, the focus remains product evidence, not an invented ranking promise.
- Observation
- One prompt × one provider × one repetition. Saved text is the evidence behind derived metrics.
- Recommendation
- A product indicated as a buying option in the saved answer, distinct from a mere mention.
- Mention
- A recognized product name in an answer; it does not necessarily recommend that product.
- Citation
- A reference or link supplied by the provider. A site citation is not automatically a product recommendation.
- Readiness
- Evidence-backed listing rule assessment. It is not observed visibility, sales or conversion.
- Name variation
- An alternative product name used in matching while preserving model and variant identity.
- Shopping agent
- An AI system that can assist purchase decisions or transactions, depending on its permissions and capabilities. Gengine does not make purchases.
- Coverage
- The share of rules supported by available evidence. Unknown values remain unknown; low coverage can suppress a score.
- Valid answer
- A completed usable provider answer included in the corresponding metric denominator. Truncated responses are separately flagged.
- Snapshot
- Captured listing content with source and capture time, used for extraction and re-audit without fetching again.
- Listing
- A channel/URL and seller offer, distinct from the canonical product identity.
- Backtest
- Chronological model evaluation on a later period than training, required alongside sufficient data before forecasts are shown.
